Restaurant Style Pallipalayam Chicken

Pallipalayam Chicken is a famous starter recipe in the kongu region. Main ingredient for this recipe is de seeded red chillies and coconut pieces. Chef from Hari Bhavanam hotel,coimbatore demonstrated this recipe in one of the familiar TV programme. First time I tried this recipe at my home,it was a huge hit. Ingredients:
For red chilli garlic paste:
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 7 byadagi red chillies/Kashmiri red chillies
  • 1/4 cup warm water 
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
To Sauté:
  • 3 - 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 15 de seeded red chillies
  • Curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup sliced coconut pieces
  • 7 finely sliced small onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 3 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 cup chopped boneless chicken
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt as required
  • Grinded red chilli garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp fennel powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder 
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • Chopped coriander leaves
Detailed recipe with step by step instructions:



Method:
  1. Soak red chillies and garlic cloves by adding warm water for 15 mins.Then grind to a fine paste.
  2. Heat coconut oil,sauté the grinded chilli paste until all the water gets evaporated and thickens up.
  3. Again heat coconut oil,added the deseeded red chillies and sauté for a minute.Then add curry leaves,small onions and sauté until onions turns light brown color.
  4. Then add tomatoes ,garlic and sauté until it becomes mushy.Add the chicken pieces ,turmeric powder and salt,sauté in a medium flame (app 10 mins) until water from the chickens gets evaporated.
  5. Then add grinded chilli garlic paste and sauté until chicken gets fully cooked.
  6. Finally add all the spice powders and sauté for 2-3 mins.Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
Note:
1.Adjust spice level according to your taste.
