Paneer Takatak - Dhaba Style
Paneer Takatak is a flavourful starter recipe and also goes well with Naan or Roti or Pulao. Recipe originated from Amristar. The word "Takatak" means "Sound of the ladle clicking against the pan while the person on the streets make it".One of the famous street food in northern parts of india. You can easily prepare this dish with ingredients available at your home.Non vegetarians can replace paneer with boneless chicken or fish.Lets see how to prepare Paneer Takatak - Dhaba Style recipe.

Ingredients:
To Marinate Paneer:
- 15 Paneer Cubes
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp gram flour
- 1 tbsp rice flour
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp water(if needed)
- Oil to deep fry
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 slitted green chillies
- 1 cubed onion
- 1 cubed tomato(bangalore variety)
- 1/2 cubed green capsicum
- 1 tomato,blanched and pureed
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- salt as required
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 tsp crushed kastoori methi
- Fried paneer
- In a bowl,add all the ingredients mentioned under 'To marinate paneer' and mix well.Sprinkle tsps of water if needed,keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan,deep fry the marinated paneer in a high flame(else paneer will become rubbery).
- Until its turns golden brown colour.
- Heat oil in a pan,add cumin seeds followed by onion and green chillies. Saute until onions turns translucent in a high flame.
- Then add capsicum and tomatoes,saute for 3 mins in a high flame.Then add in all the spice powders, pureed tomato and saute until raw smell of the spice powder goes off.
- Finally add in the fried paneer,tomato sauce and kastoori methi. Toss until masalas well coated with paneer.
- Serve hot with Naan or roti or Pulao.
- Recipe should be cooked in high flame.
- You can shallow fry the paneer instead of deep frying.
- You can add red and yellow capsicums too
- You can replace paneer with cauliflower or baby corn.
