Fish Burji\Fish podimas
Fish burji,a flavourful starter recipe.Few days back, tasted this recipe in a restaurant(market cafe).Myself and hubby liked it very much,I replicated the same dish at my home and received nice feedbacks from him.Am sharing that recipe here.
Servings:2 people Detailed Recipe: 1 cup = 250 ml INGREDIENTS: To Marinate & To Fry: 2 fish slices(used king fish) 1 tbsp red chilli powder 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 juice of a lemon Salt as required 4-5 tsp oil To Sauté: 4 tbsp + 1 tbsp oil 5 finely chopped garlic cloves 2 finely chopped green chillies Few curry leaves 1 finely chopped medium size onion 2 tsp ginger garlic paste 1/2 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder(for color) 1/2 - 3/4 tbsp amchoor powder(raw mango pwdr) 1 tsp coriander powder 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder 1 tsp pepper powder Chopped coriander leaves
Detailed recipe with step by step instructions:
Method:
1.In a bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned under ‘To Marinate & To Fry’ except oil(add water little by little) and mix well.Marinate the cleaned fish slices with the masala and set aside for 30 mins - 1 hour.
2.Heat a tawa and shallow fry the marinated fish slices by adding oil little by little.Shred the fried fish slices without any bones and keep aside.
3.Heat oil in a pan,add garlic cloves and sauté until it gets nice aroma. Then add green chillies, curry leaves & onion, sauté until onions turns little transparent.
4.Then add ginger garlic paste and sauté until it’s raw smell vanishes. Then add salt (added salt to fish fry too,So adjust accordingly)and mix well.
5.Then add in all the spice powder except pepper powder and mix well.Saute for a minute, then add shredded fish.Saute it for 5 mins in a medium flame.
6.Then add a tbsp oil, sauté until it becomes roasted(appx 8-10 mins). Finally add pepper powder, coriander leaves and sauté for a minute.Switch off the stove.
7.Serve hot as a starter and with any rice or roti varieties.
Note:
1.Any fish variety can be used,it’s easy to remove bones from king fish so I preferred that.
2.I like more tangy flavour,so added 3/4 tbsp amchoor powder.Adjust according to ur taste.
3.Adjust spice powders and green chillies according to your spice level.
